Ashu Apuruv Agarwal, President
Ashu Apuruv Agarwal

President

Ashu graduated with a degree in Economics with a second major in Finance. In recognition of his academic excellence, he was placed on the School of Economics Dean’s List for AY2014/15. He received his Capital Market Professional certification from The National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE) in 2013. Ashu was the coordinator for liaison officers and notetakers for Russia Singapore Business Forum 2013 and the Logistics IC for India Lunchtime Talk Series 2014. Over the summer of 2015, he completed an internship with Brandes Investment Partners LLP, a global investment advisory firm, managing assets for institutional and private clients worldwide. Following his internship, Ashu has accepted the offer to embark on a three-month part-time internship with them over the first semester of AY2015/2016. Over the summer of 2016, Ashu interned at Avista Advisory as an investment banking summer analyst.

Clement Aw Jin Ron, Vice President

Vice President

Clement Aw graduated with a double degree in Accountancy and Business Management at Singapore Management University. He was a semi-finalist in the Singapore Business Case Competition 2016 and is an honored recipient of both the SMU Scholar’s Programme and the Li & Fung Scholarship. In recognition of his academic excellence, he was placed on the School of Accountancy Dean’s List for AY2014/15 and AY2015/16. Clement has had past internship experiences with PricewaterhouseCoopers (Risk Assurance) and the Ministry of Trade & Industry (Emerging Markets Divison). He was also part of Project Sunshine IV, an overseas community service initiative to Laos during the winter of 2014 which aims to improve the educational infrastructure of a local village through teaching and the sustainable development of IT infrastructure in schools. Over the summer of 2016, he completed a three-month internship with McKinsey & Co.

Aayush Kumar, Director
Aayush Kumar

Director, Africa Desk | Operations & IT

Aayush graduated from Singapore Management University with a Bachelor of Accountancy. In recognition of his academic excellence, he was placed on the School of Accountancy Dean’s List for AY2015/16. Prior to joining Singapore Management University, he completed a two-month internship with the Finance department of Tata Steel. Aayush was accepted into the YSE-SIF Workshop 2015, a program that focuses on helping young entrepreneurs kickstart their start-up idea. Over the summer of 2015, Aayush completed a two-month internship with the Investment Banking Division of CIMB. During the summer, he also led a community service project: Project Pipla. The volunteer mission aims to ensure the sustainable livelihood of underprivileged Indian children by equipping them with skills to seek out better opportunities. Aayush has completed a part-time internship with Frontier Strategy Group during the first semester of AY2015/2016 and has completed an internship with Pareto Securities as an investment banking summer analyst over the summer of 2016. In the first semester of AY2016/2017, he will be completing a part-time private equity internship with Quadria Capital.

Siddharth Kaul

Director, South East Asia Desk | Training

Siddharth graduated with a double degree in Business Management (majoring in Finance) and Economics. He has completed a project with the corporate security department in Morgan Stanley. Over the summer of 2015, Siddharth interned as a research analyst for the APAC region with Frontier Strategy Group. He was awarded the Lee Kong Chian School of Business Dean's List for the academic years 2013/14 and 2014/15. Prior to joining SMU Emerging Markets, he was an associate in the asset department of SMUSA. Over the summer of 2016, he worked at Jardine Lloyd Thompson as a Sales Consultant.

Daryl Tan Jia Xin, Director
Daryl Tan Jia Xin

Director, Middle East & North Africa Desk | Training

Daryl graduated with a degree in Business Management (Finance) and a second major in Marketing. Daryl was a part of Uni-Y ISP Chiangmai, where he worked in the Training Committee to develop English training lessons for the student beneficiaries. His part internships include marketing under BASF and a stint at Titan Capital. Over the summer of 2016, he completed an internship at ARA Private Funds.

Liu Gewei, Director
Liu Gewei

Director, Central & East Asia Desk | Marketing 

Gewei graduated from a Bachelor of Accountancy at Singapore Management University. He has previously completed two internships at DBS Vickers (Marketing and Central Products and Dealing). Seeking an active lifestyle, he currently serves as the Finance Director of the SMU Aquatic Sharks club and helped achieved the 2nd runner up position in Singapore University Games 2014. For the summer of 2015, he visited Indonesia for a 10 day Accounting Study Mission. A firm believer of giving back to society, Gewei has facilitated in Inspirar Camp 2015, which aims to bridge the gap between youths and elderly communities through various interactions. Over the spring and summer of 2016, Gewei has completed internships with ING’s Corporate Finance department.

Li Lin, Director
Li Lin

Director, Latin America Desk | Resource Management

Lin graduated with a degree in Business Management with a double major in Quantitative Finance and Strategic Management. Lin represented SEM at the FutureChina Forum Scholar Showdown organised by BusinessChina in 2014, emerging as champions with her team, and was invited to attended the prestigious FutureChina Global Forum. Lin was the Programmes & Logistics Director of Project Spring II, an overseas community service project stationed in Yathar Village, Myanmar in winter 2013 to provide a sustainable education curriculum for local school children. An avid Latin Ballroom dancer, Lin is with SMU Ardiente, having performed for various school events, competed at the Beginner level, and served as the Head Facilitator of 2014 SMU Arts Camp. Lin has previously completed internships at CIMB Singapore as an Asset Management Liabilities Summer Intern, and at DBS Bank as a Global Transaction Services Summer Intern. She has also completed a 5-month internship with ABN AMRO N.V.’s Corporate Finance & Capital Markets team. Over the summer of 2016, Lin worked at the Agribank of China as a loan syndication summer analyst.

Praveen Ravi, Director
Praveen Ravi

Director, India Desk | Finance

Praveen graduated with a degree in Business Management (Finance). Prior to Emerging Markets, he served as the Vice-President of SMU Ventures. He has previously interned with KPMG in their transactions and restructuring department and Aten Capital as an investment-banking intern. Upon graduation, he commenced full-time employment as an associate in the strategy and transformation practice at Ernst and Young.
