Sophia Kho
President
Sophia is a fourth-year undergraduate pursuing a double degree in Bachelor of Social Sciences and Bachelor of Business Management. She is a recipient of the Lee Kong Chian scholarship and was placed on the School of Social Sciences Dean’s List in AY 2015/2016. In her first year, she was part of Project Gazaab 2015 which sought to impart entrepreneurship skills and provide seed-funding to empower youths in Indonesia. Prior to SMU Emerging Markets, Sophia was the Honorary General Secretary of SMU Apolitical. In the summer of 2016, Sophia did a research internship at AWARE as well as a business analyst internship at Addapp Business Consulting. She went on to intern as a student consultant with SMU-UOB Asian Enterprise Institute. This summer, she has completed a summer internship with a TMD management consulting boutique, Pioneer Consulting Asia. She is currently doing a Business Management (Fund Strategy) internship at Capital Group Companies.
Darien The
Vice President
Darien is a third-year undergraduate pursuing a double degree in Bachelor of Accountancy and Bachelor of Laws. In recognition of his academic excellence, he was placed on the School of Accountancy Dean’s List for AY 2016/2017. He is also the current ASEAN Desk head for SMU Economics Intelligence Club. Prior to joining Singapore Management University, he completed a five-month internship with PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Asset Management and Venture Hub field. Over the summer of 2017, Darien spent three weeks in Hue, Vietnam with SMU Project Triveria 4 to educate children about proper sanitation habits and equip underprivileged children with basic English speaking skills. During the summer of 2017, he will be embarking on an internship with APS Asset Management as an investment analyst.
Phan Tuan Nghia
Director, Africa Desk | Operations & IT
Nghia is a fourth-year undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor in Business Management (BBM) at Singapore Management University with a major in Finance. In view of his academic excellence, he was placed on the School of Business Dean’s List for AY 2015/2016. Over the summer of 2016, Nghia spent 3 weeks in Hue with SMU Project Triveria 3 to educate kindergarten and primary school children about personal hygiene and help them develop basic English skills. During the summer of 2017, he will be embarking on a corporate finance internship with Indovina Bank.
Kevin Leong
Director, Central & East Asia Desk | Events
Kevin is a fourth-year undergraduate at Singapore Management University pursuing a Bachelor of Economics with a second major in Finance. Prior to joining Emerging Markets, he was a Project Leader under Project Khmer Smiles 4 as part of two overseas community projects where his team conducted entrepreneurial business programmes for teenage youths in Cambodia. Over the summer of 2017, Kevin completed an internship with the British High Commission as a Trade and Policy intern.
Apurv Joshi
Director, South East Asia Desk | Finance
Apurv is a third-year undergraduate enrolled in the Bachelors in Business Management (BBM) program at Singapore Management University. In recognition of his academic excellence, he was placed on the School of Business Dean’s List for AY 2016/17. Over the summer of 2017, Apurv has completed an internship as a business analyst with Funding Societies, a leading FinTech company specialising in P2P Lending and Invoice Financing for growth-oriented SMEs in Singapore and Malaysia.
Ji Ran
Director, India Desk | Marketing
Ji Ran is a fourth-year undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor of Business Management with majors in Operations Management and Finance. She was placed on the School of Business Dean’s List for AY 2015/2016, and was part of the organising committee for School of Business (Bondue) Freshmen Camp 2016. Over the summer of 2016, Ji Ran served in Project Agape: Kashgar VI, an overseas community service project in Xin Jiang, China to promote racial integration. She has completed an internship with Porsche Asia Pacific over the last semester and is currently doing an internship with DBS Bank as a Business Analyst in the Treasury and Markets department.
Mohit Poddar
Director, Latin America Desk | Events
Mohit is a third-year undergraduate pursuing a Bachelors of Business Management. In recognition of his academic pursuits, Mohit was placed on the School of Business Dean’s List for AY 2016/2017. Mohit has completed an internship at the Strategy Consulting Division of KPMG Singapore over the summer of 2017. He is currently also the Deputy General Secretary of SMU Students' Association Council. Previously, he has been involved in the Organizing Committee of BONDUE's Alumni Networking Night.
Elaine Teng
Director, Commonwealth of Independent States Desk | Training
Elaine is a fourth-year undergraduate at the Singapore Management University pursuing a Bachelor of Business Management with a major in Finance. She was placed on the School of Business Dean’s List for AY 2015/2016. Prior to joining Emerging Markets, she was a volunteer under SMU BP Mentoring. Over the summer of 2017, Elaine has completed an internship with SAC Capital in the field of Equity Research to further her interests in capital markets.
